Creative Tech Time

The Magic of Metaphors - writing workshop

In this workshop young writers will sharpen their observational skills and discover how to apply their imagination to everyday experiences by creating metaphors and extending them to create poems full of rich detail that transforms reality into magic.

Age group: 8-17

Yoga for kids

Unleash your child's inner peace and joy with Kids Yoga at the library! Our engaging sessions combine gentle yoga poses, mindfulness exercises to promote flexibility, balance, and relaxation. Led by an experienced instructor.

Zumba for Kids

Designed to be fun and energetic, these sessions will have your kids dancing, laughing, and getting fit all at the same time. Led by the amazing Elsa, children will learn easy-to-follow dance routines to upbeat music.

Always wanted to learn about the hit game Dungeons and Dragons? Do you fancy going on a quest to save the realm? Band together, fight the monsters and explore the fantastic world that lies before you. The session will teach you how to use dice and a character sheet to play through a unique fantasy adventure. Come along to the library where dice and an adventure await!

VR Experience

Virtual reality (VR) is a simulated experience that employs 3D near-eye displays and pose tracking to give the user an immersive feel of a virtual world. Zoom off and experience technology in this immersive fun way!

The Great Nature Treasure Hunt

Get wrapped up, head to  one of our libraries and join us on a Great Nature Treasure Hunt, exploring our surrounding parks and recreational spaces. The hunts will take around 20 minutes or longer if you find something exciting, and completed forms can be exchanged for real treasure.

We Love Waimakariri Film Festival

We are excited to invite you to create a 0.5-2 minute film explaing your favourite Waimakariri outdoor space. All wonderful films will be shown at a special event at the Rangiora Town Hall in spring with a prize for the most inspired film.
