Have you noticed the bombardment of celebrity book reviews that come to light over the summer holiday season?  And isn’t it great!  It’s fascinating discovering what other people are reading – and a brilliant way of branching out.  (If you are reading this, you probably agree.)

So after reading a glowing recommendation for “We Were Liars” by a well-known New Zealander I delved in.  Despite some scepticism (a “young” adult novel ?) I instantly loved this book.  Regardless of the story line, this book was going to win me over with the beautiful writing style alone.  It turned out to be so much more. A truly heartrending story, exquisitely crafted, that will leave you reeling.  If I haven’t convinced you yet, I’ll leave you with the blurb :
