Membership

Membership is free to:

All residents of the Waimakariri District.
Waimakariri ratepayers who live out of the District.
Students attending early learning, primary, secondary or tertiary institutions in the Waimakariri District, including Idea Services, The Chris Ruth Centre, North Canterbury Community College.
Teaching staff employed at pre-school, primary or secondary schools in the Waimakariri District during the term of their employment.
Any child up to the age of 5.

Out of district borrowers are welcome to join by paying a subscription ($70 per six months).

Fill in the online form, and you will be allocated a temporary membership, which is valid for two weeks. Then you can start using e-resources and reserving items straight away.
Within this time, you will need to visit your library branch to show your ID, proof of address, and pick up your membership card.
Anyone under 16 needs to be signed up by a parent or guardian.

Use your card or username to borrow items.
You are responsible for all items borrowed.
Contact the library if your card is lost or stolen.
Update your contact details if they should change.
Your card will expire every two years and you will need to renew it to continue to have access to all services. To renew it, just make contact with the library so we can check your details.

Access e-Books and e-Audio books.
Keep track of your account; check how many items you have borrowed and when they are due.
Renew your books online.
Reserve a book.
Read the latest New Zealand and world newspapers using PressReader.
Read full-text articles via the catalogue online.
Have access to subscription databases from the comfort of your home.
