Story Box Library Activity of the Month:March 2024

At first, we can only see the sea creature's tail ends. Some clues help us try to identify each underwater creature as we learn more about each one.Now, can you guess the sea creature that each tail belongs to before they are revealed?

Celebrate Sea Week, with this activity available from Story Box Library linked to the story: Heads and Tails: Underwater, written and illustrated by John Canty, read by Bart Hamilton, and published by Berbay Publishing.

Play Animal Reveal Guessing Game

What you need:

* White candle or crayon

* White paper

* Paintbrush

* Watercolour paints and water

* A partner (friend or family member)

● Use the white candle (or crayon) to draw an animal onto the white paper.

● Provide your partner with clues about what animal you have drawn (because you used white crayon or candle, they won’t be able to see it). Give clues about what the animal looks like, what it eats or how it moves.

● Invite your partner to guess the animal you have drawn.

● Dip the paintbrush into the watercolour paints and cover the white paper to reveal your animal.

● Did your partner guess correctly?

Play again. Maybe you can swap roles and guess your partner’s animal.
