Sarah:

Starring Julian Dennison, this movie is set during the Springbok rugby tour of New Zealand in 1981. It portrays the importance of standing up for what you believe in, as well as connecting with family and community. It’s well worth watching to get a feel for (or remember) the era and the issues of the time. It’s also got a feel-good factor and plenty of humour.

4.5 stars.

Ciaran:

Uproar is the sort of hilarious and sincere New Zealand film that we have become so famous for of late, a must watch for anyone. I was so entirely impressed by Julian Dennison, he might be more famous as Ricky Baker but this is his best role to date. I felt I learned a lot from Uproar, we weren’t taught a lot about the Māori perspective of the 1981 Springbok tour when I was in high school. This is a very insightful, heartwarming watch that I cannot recommend enough.
