Got a new smartphone or tablet that’s driving you crazy? Unsure how to use that app everyone’s talking about? Curious about artificial intelligence but don’t know where to start?

Good news, help is arriving at Rangiora Library. For the next 12 weeks (20 April - 10 June), a friendly Digi-Coach will be on hand to solve your digital headaches.

What’s on offer?

  • One-on-one help with phones, tablets, apps, email, and online services
  • Drop-in support – no appointment needed
  • A chance to try out virtual reality (VR) and explore different work experiences (bookings required for VR sessions, book here)

In addition to supporting our popular Device Advice service, the Digi-Coaches will be supporting free digital skills classes on a wide range of topics, such as “Intro to Smartphones”, “Create Your Own Photobook”, and “Ancestry Library”.

“We’re excited to welcome our Digi-Coaches,” said Luke Sole, Manager, Waimakariri Libraries. “There’s a huge demand for digital support in our community and having dedicated coaches means we can help so many more people.”

This initiative is part of a work experience programme for jobseekers, backed by the Ministry of Social Development and delivered by Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa in partnership with local libraries and community groups.

“Employers looking for tech-savvy staff should definitely come and meet these Digi-Coaches,” said Laurence Zwimpfer, Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa. “Bring them your digital challenges – you might be so impressed they become your next hire! Our goal is for every Digi-Coach to find job opportunities during their 12-week placement.”
