Within our DVD collection you'll find movies, TV shows, documentaries and more for children and adults. DVDs are free to borrow for 14 days. For recommendations on what to watch next, check out our Reel Reviews.

Dyslexia Friendly Collection

Dyslexia is a term used to describe a range of persistent difficulties with aspects of reading, writing, and spelling. Around 10% of the population has dyslexia, and common symptoms are that words and letters appear to “move around on the page” or blur and blend into each other.

As part of our commitment to encouraging literacy and recreational reading, Waimakariri Libraries offer a range of books with dyslexia friendly font to help those who have (or support someone with) dyslexia. Search for Dyslexia Friendly title in our catalogue here

Dementia Friendly Collection
Our Dementia Friendly Collection was created as a tool for friends and whānau to create conversations and make connections with those living with dementia | mate wareware. Reconnecting with memories can be a joyful and stimulating experience for people living with dementia | mate wareware and their families | whānau.

At this stage our collection consists of curated suitcases called 'A Suitcase full of Memories' which evoke memories through items and reading material'. Each suitcase is themed, and we currently have the following themes available, On the Farm, In the Garden, and At Home.  Each suitcase can be borrowed for 3 weeks with your library card.

Ako Collection 

We have created an amazing Ako Collection to help you explore and learn more about Te Reo Māori.

Ako means to learn, so we have collected a range of fantastic resources for all ages to help you learn in your own time and at your own pace. Start your Te Reo Māori journey today by popping into Rangiora, Kaiapoi, or Oxford Libraries and asking the team to show you our Ako Collection or have a look at our Ako collection in our catalogue.

These packs are available to loan for three weeks.

Vox books are a new improved version of the CD read alongs. Simply press the button and sit back and relax as you listen to a fantastic story!! Children's Fiction and Non-Fiction tiles are available as Vox Books.

Waimakariri Libraries offers books in a range of languages:  Italian (ITA), Chinese (CHI), Dutch (DUT), Japanese (JAP), German (GER), Spanish (SPA) , Hindi (HIN), Tagalog (Philippines) and Turkish (TUR).
