Library System Upgrades: Service Disruptions

Published: 10-Aug-2026

Some Waimakariri Libraries services will be affected on Wednesday 12 & 19 August from 1-11am due to major server upgrades.

What this means for you:

  • Borrowing items may take a little longer than usual. We hope the self-service kiosks will operate in offline mode but are prepared to manually issue books at the front desk. If we need to manually issue your items, please be mindful of how many books you're borrowing.
  • The library catalogue may be unavailable or display inaccurate information. Staff will not be able to check an item's location or whether we have a title in our collection.
  • Online library membership registrations will be unavailable.
  • The Waimakariri Libraries app will be unavailable.
  • First-time logins to eLibrary apps using a library card number and PIN will not work. If you are already logged in, you should still be able to access your eLibrary apps as normal.
  • Access to library computers using a library card will be unavailable. Please see a staff member for a guest pass if you need to use a library computer.

We anticipate the disruption to be minimal and appreciate your patience while important upgrades are completed.
