From “Shhh to Community Hub” – An exhibition celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Trevor Inch Memorial Library.
Over the past 30 years, Trevor Inch Memorial Library has evolved from a quiet reading room to a vibrant community hub. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, we've created the exhibition From "Shh" to Community Hub. Explore the story of Rangiora Library at the exhibition from 15 – 26 November at Rangiora's Chamber Gallery. The exhibition features photos, artifacts, oral histories and hands-on activites for all ages.
The Library's name comes from Trevor Milton Inch. Inch was the first elected Mayor of the Waimakariri District. He worked tirelessly throughout his time as Mayor (1986-1995) to give the community a new modern library. Inch passed away before the official opening of the library on 21 December 1996. He is known for his support of libraries as a place of life-long learning.
A lot has happened since then. We've moved things around in the space, adopted new technoloy and expanded our programming and events. Somethings haven't changed - you can still expect to see new books on the shelves and recieve guidance from our friendly team.
Take a walk down memory lane with us at the exhibition as we celebrate 30 years of this wonderful community hub.
