This series is perfect for the early reader, and I cannot praise the illustrations more. They simply are so unique, different and charming. This is mixed media is used to perfection. Taking photos of animals and overlaying them with sketches and accentuating the animals facial expressions was just such a brilliant idea – I’m gutted that we don’t get credit for the amazing person or persons responsible, as the only credit for the illustrations are to Oxford University Press. Whoever you were on that team doing this, you did a fantastic job!

It’s not just the pictures that take this book up and above, they are so well written, and never speak down to the reader. We learn all about real medical terminology and practices, especially bedside manner and making the patient feel safe and not scared. There is even an included list on what to do if someone you know feels poorly and how you can help. Not only is this charming book beautiful and educational, it’s just plain fun. A perfect book.
