We will be hosting special activities on Thursday nights at Kaiapoi Library and Friday nights at Rangiora Library, 5 - 7 pm.

Week 1
Rangiora - August 1, 5.30pm - Adult Lego Night

Adults, it’s your turn to build! LEGO Club may be for the kids, but next Friday is all about you. Bring your imagination and we’ll supply the bricks. We can't wait to see what you create.

Week 2
Kaiapoi - August 7, 5:30pm - Te Kāhui ako Kātote Maths Art Exhibition Launch
Te Kāhui ako Kātote, are celebrating the creativity of maths through art. This vibrant exhibition showcases creative works from schools across our Kāhui ako Kātote (community), where students have transformed mathematical concepts into stunning visual expressions. From geometry to symmetry, explore how numbers, patterns, and imagination come together to reveal the artistic side of maths. Join us in celebrating the work by students at the Te Kāhui ako Kātote Maths Art Exhibition launch, at the Kaiapoi Library, on Thursday 7 August from 5:30pm.
Rangiora - August 8, 5.30pm - Rangatahi Games Night
Unwind at our Rangatahi Games Night on Friday 8 August. We'll bring out a range of games, from classic and narrative board games to retro tech and Xbox. Ages 13+

Week 3
Kaiapoi - August 14, 5.30pm- Rainbow Meetups
A casual social group for all ages of the LGBTQIA+ community in Waimakariri, including allies and  whānau!
All ages welcome!
Rangiora - August 15, 6-7pm - Tramping with Children Author Talk 
Love tramping but think it's off the table now that you have kids? Think again. Discover how to hit the trails as a family and actually enjoy it. Join Sonia Barrish, a seasoned tramper and mother of three (aged 8 and under), as she shares her experience of exploring over 200 huts with her kids in tow. Week 4 
Kaiapoi -  August 21, 5.30pm - Adult Watercolour Craft Evening
Come along and take part in a do-it-yourself watercolour craft. Enjoy a calming adult night at Kaiapoi Library with delicious teas and quiet music.
Rangiora - August 22, 6pm - Fuego Volume 3 Launch
To celebrate National Poetry Day, Waimakariri Libraries will host the launch of Fuego Volume 3, The World Congress of Poets Literary Journal. A selection of student's poems from Waimakariri Libraries' writing workshops will be featured in the journal.  If you would like to attend the launch on Friday 22 August 5.30-7pm book your free ticket via Humanitix.

Week 5 
Kaiapoi - August 28, 6pm - Family Movie Night
Join us for a family friendly movie. Popcorn provided.
Rangiora - August 29, 5-7pm - Get Bookish
Join us for a cosy evening of stories, snacks, and conversation. Discover our collections, learn what’s trending and receive reading recommendations from library staff. Whether you’re a lifelong reader or just curious about what’s on the shelves, come along to explore, chat, and connect. Bookings essential, details to come.
