Be a Local Hero and Save Seeds - Seed Saving Workshops Waimakariri Libraries are launching revamped seed libraries in all three libraries for our community to borrow, grow, and return seeds to the collection. To celebrate the relaunch, we are hosting Seed Saving Workshops to learn from local gardening and community groups, to gain knowledge about seed saving, and seed raising. The libraries are also launching a ‘Seed Guardians’ role for children and youth as an approved activity for the Children’s University. Zine-Making Basics Learn all the fundamentals of zines and explore ways to take it further. All materials provided, just bring yourself or come with friends. A zine (from the word magazine) is a self-published, home-made booklet which can be about anything and everything. There are no rules for zines, just an outlet for creative expression. Superpower Drive-in Movie Night Bring your own box to create a super vehicle for our drive-in movie night. From Sketch to Story: Creating Characters That Come to Life Ever wondered how comic book characters are born? Join illustrator Sarah Grieg and writer Heather McQuillan to create your own unique comic character and build an original story around them.
